Blessed are those who Mourn

Grief has a weight that lives in the body. You feel it in the shoulders, in the spine, in the way you carry yourself when you are holding something too heavy to name.

Blessed Are Those Who Mourn does not look away from that weight. It sits with it. The turned back, the quiet vulnerability of skin and bone, the stillness of a figure in the middle of something that cannot be rushed. This is what mourning looks like when it is honest.

But there is a promise woven into the title. The grief is real. And so is what comes after.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. — Matthew 5:4
