Daughters

Every woman in this collection lived thousands of years ago. Every one of them is still speaking.

Daughters is an ongoing series of portraits inspired by the women of the Bible;  not painted as illustrations of scripture, but as explorations of who they were. Their strength, their complexity, their faith, their humanity. Women who were called, chosen, broken, restored, and remembered by name across thousands of years of history.

Some of these portraits found their subject after the painting was finished. Others will be intentional from the first brushstroke. Either way, the women seem to arrive when they are ready.
